Job Description
Position: Accountant I
Location: Norcross, GA 30092
Job Summary:
IBEX is looking for a self-driven Junior Accountant to join a fast-paced, government contracting, and professional services team located in Norcross, GA. The ideal candidate will create financial transactions and generates reports from that information. The creation of financial transactions includes posting daily information to accounting journals or accounting software from such source documents as invoices to customers, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The Junior Accountant will also reconcile accounts to ensure their accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven bookkeeping/accounting or 2 + years related field experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must have access to reliable means of transportation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Technical Skills: Outlook, MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail, ability to analyze information and deal with complex challenges
- Ability to develop standards and report research results
- Ability to conduct work concisely and thoroughly
- Strong Data Entry skills
- Comfortable with technology and learning new software platforms
- Comfortable and capable of handling confidential and secure company information
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize duties
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Self-motivated and strong work ethic combined with the ability to work independently and part of a team
- Strong knowledge of accounting and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience in QuickBooks
- Working knowledge of DCAA compliance standards
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accounting controls by following company policies and procedures.
- Maintain records of financial transactions by establishing, verifying, allocating, and posting transactions to the appropriate accounts.
- Reconcile general and subsidiary bank accounts monthly by gathering and balancing information.
- Maintain general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; adjusting entries for amortizations, prepaids, analyzing and reconciling retainage and accounts payable ledgers
- Provide financial status information by collecting, analyzing, preparing reports, completing special projects, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements and GAAP standards by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports and advising management on needed actions.
- Gather data and complete monthly reports by established deadlines as assigned.
- Maintain historical records by filing documents.
- Secure financial information by completing database backups. keeping information confidential.
- Assist with departmental and organizational projects as assigned.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- The ability to telework effectively with stable internet.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment or during special circumstances in a partial or full telework capacity. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
