This is a free-standing qualification, but is also part of the ITIL Intermediate Capability stream, and one of the modules that leads to the ITIL: 2011 Expert Certificate. This course is designed for individuals who require a deep understanding of Release, Control & Validation processes and functions, and how they may be used to enhance the quality of IT service support within an organisation.

The purpose of the ITIL Intermediate certificate in Release, Control & Validation is to certify that delegates have gained a thorough and detailed knowledge of the RCV processes, the structure and advanced concepts, and has comprehended the essential principles of ITIL based RCV practices for Service Management. When the delegate has completed this course, they should be confident in their ability to approach RCV activities, such as:
