This information helps us to understand visitors’ traffic patterns through our website so that we can enhance the overall usability of our website. Your computer provides this information automatically each time you log on, unless you’ve activated blocking technology available in some browsers. While we do not generally require that you provide us with individually identifiable information in order to visit and use our website, at times we (or the third party vendors with whom we contract) may ask you to provide us with personal information such as your E-mail address, name, mailing address, telephone number, credit card number, demographic information, or persistent identifier (such as user name and password) which is associated with individually identifiable information, to enable you to make a purchase, download information, correspond with us, enter a sweepstakes, participate in an online survey, subscribe to a mailing list or newsletter, or register for special promotions. You have the right not to provide any of the requested personal information, but you may not be able to participate in some activities on this website without your personal information.

Like many websites today, we may employ a standard technology called “cookies” to collect information about how you use our site in order to provide you with a better experience by measuring which areas of our website of greatest interest or to remember you when you return to visit us.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small piece of data that a website asks your browser to store on your computer or mobile device. The cookie allows the website to “remember” your actions or preferences over time.

Most browsers support cookies, but users can set their browsers to decline them and can delete them whenever they like.

Websites mainly use cookies to:

  • identify users
  • remember users’ custom preferences
  • help users complete tasks without having to re-enter information when browsing from one page to another or when visiting the site later

Cookies can also be used for online target advertising and to show advertisements relevant to something the user searched for in the past.

How are they used?

The web server supplying the webpage can store a cookie on the user’s computer or mobile device. An external web server that manages files included or referenced in the webpage is also able to store cookies. Each time the user requests a new page, the web server can receive the value of the cookies it previously set and return the page with content relating to these values.

What are the different types of cookies?

A cookie can be classified by its lifespan and the domain to which it belongs. By lifespan, cookies are either:

  • a session cookie, which is erased when the user closes the browser; this type of cookie is used, for instance, as a test to see whether or not browser settings allow cookies to be set on your machine; or
  • a persistent cookie, which remains on the user’s computer/device for a defined period of time.  These types of cookies enable the platform to remember a visitor and to serve users with appropriate content while speeding up the load rate of the web page.

As for the domain to which it belongs, cookies are either:

  • first-party cookies, which are set by the web server of the visited page and share the same domain; or
  • third-party cookies, stored by a different domain to the visited page’s domain. This can happen when the webpage references a file, such as JavaScript, located outside its domain.

IBEX uses cookies to deliver improved functionality and to enhance your experience on our websites.

Subject to your right to reject cookies and delete them as described below, your use of our website indicates that you accept this policy.

How to control and delete cookies

If you want to restrict or block the cookies, you can do so in your browser settings. The ‘help’ function within your browser should generally tell you how.

The website www.aboutcookies.org also contains general information on cookies on a wide variety of browsers.  That website describes how to delete cookies from your computer.
